“Weather forecast fits - let's go to Slovenia tomorrow!”

Only about four hours from Munich, Bled is situated at a beautiful lake with an island in the middle. The decision to make a road trip there was made spontaneously the day before. Pablo and I had wanted to go there for quite a while and took advantage of the fact that we had a few days off.

We had planned two stops for our little trip. The first stop was the Nationalpark Zelenci, which is home to many species of plants. There is a parking lot directly at the main road where the trail starts through the forest. At the end of the forest path you will find the small lake with a beautiful view after about five minutes walk.

Back in the car. We drove on to Radovlijica, where we booked our accommodation. The village is about ten minutes by car from Bled. Here we went to the Puzman Farm for “glamping”. I can only warmly recommend if you want a little luxury in nature. On the farm, we were welcomed with freshly baked cookies, which are typical in Slovenia. On top we got some fresh vegetables from the garden, which Pablo and I are always very, very happy about.

Because we arrived late and we were hungry, we drove to Bled for dinner. Coincidentally a friend of ours was also in Bled and we met him at the pizzeria “Rustika”. The truffle pizza was very tasty there... and so was the craft beer.

When we arrived “home”, the tent was really cold, but fortunately there was a heater..and yes, the tent has electricity. The next day we got up at 7 am. Rather untypically early, but the weather just lured us out of bed. We made ourselves some coffee and ate the homemade cookies and headed to Bled. Our daily program consisted of:

  • Walk around the lake

  • The small hike to the viewpoint of the lake “Mala Osojnica”

  • Swimming

Because Bled is a very touristic area, there is no free parking place. You can calculate that a parking place costs approximately 2 EUR per hour. As our first stop was the lakeshore at the eastern side, we drove up to this parking place:

From there we went once around the lake and then went for lunch to the Lounge Bar Plaža, where we had a goulash and a burger. The prices were about 12 EUR - 20 EUR for a main course and the food was also very good there. After lunch, it was “lake time” in a beautiful, crystal clear water.

We always make sure on our trips or excursions that Pablo can always take his planned photos at sunset or sunrise. That's why we started around 18 o'clock to the viewpoint “Mala Osojnica”. The ascent takes about 20 minutes and is super easy. Because we arrived at the top “too early”, we killed some time at the top for about 2 hours until the light was softer and sunset was close. But with the view this was quite bearable.

From the view point, you can then decide if you want to do the circular path or go back down the same way. We decided to take the same way down, because we were not in such a hiking mood as originally planned. We rather had this holiday mood, where you lie the whole day at the lake and only have to get up to drink coffee. But we will come back to Slovenia for hiking. When we arrived back downstairs we jumped into the lake again. A wonderful day came to an end.

The next morning we packed our things and brought everything into the car. David, the owner of our accommodation, asked us if we wanted to feed his farm animals. Of course, we were there immediately and got to know his goats and donkey. Afterward, we went back home. It was a relaxed weekend.
